When I watched Obama’s keynote address at the 2004 convention from my then-apartment in Chicago, tears streaming down my face because someone had finally articulated what it should mean to be an American citizen, like everyone else I thought: “This guy should be President.” To be sitting four years later at his electrifying acceptance speech [...]
The term “sensory overload” could not be more appropriate for how I’m feeling right now. The 16th Street Mall was a nightmare today, crowded with protestors (and their large signs with pictures of mutilated fetuses), cops, delegates, staffers … my head is spinning just thinking about them all! I just encountered some Republicans driving a [...]
But I’m glad BO decided to let HRC be nominated. It’s a fair, classy and historic thing to do. From the NYT story: “I am convinced that honoring Senator Clinton’s historic campaign in this way will help us celebrate this defining moment in our history and bring the party together in a strong united fashion,” [...]
I must now admit one of my life’s guilty pleasures: Michelle Malkin. I read her blog every day, and today she makes an excellent point about Obama supporters complaining that they were asked to volunteer for the campaign in order to receive tickets to the big speech in Denver. One would-be attendee complained to ABC7 [...]
MoJo has a story on Virginia Republicans who are supporting BO, one of whom said this after she heard his Iowa caucus victory speech (she actually stopped washing the dishes): “He said, ‘We’re not red states or blue states; we are the United States,’ and I thought, ‘Finally, somebody said it!’ It literally made me [...]
I saw Mark Warner speak at a small event in LA earlier this year; while he’s no BO with a microphone, he did engage the crowd with some entertaining stories and compelling progressive arguments. I thought, at the time, that he’d make a decent Veep choice, but everyone was enamored with his fellow Virginian, Jim [...]
Really enjoyed this post from Natasha Vargas-Cooper, who also writes the blog Public School Intelligentsia. Not a big Tyra Banks fan myself. The die-hards are all insisting that Obama is a selling out. He represents America, people. Even the wackos are Americans and I’m proud to support someone with the capacity to consider dissenting opinions.
